Mountain Roads Retirement Community
(Raleigh County)

Welcome to Almost Heaven!

A relaxed atmosphere and friendly community spirit combine to make our scenic paradise a wonderful place to call home. The Beckley-Raleigh County area possesses many attributes that retirees find appealing. We offer a quality of life that is desirable for people of all ages.

An extremely low crime rate, mild 4-season climate, quality healthcare and numerous activities are a few of the reasons people move to and stay in our community.

West Virginia has swiftly become one of the most important retirement destinations in the U.S., thanks in part to its combination of the aformentioned low crime rate and our great natural beauty. Raleigh County and southern West Virginia are among the most attractive of the communities around the Mountain State and are likely to continue to see unparalleled growth within the two industries than exist hand-in-hand -- tourism and retirement.

Surrounded on all sides by national parks, state parks, and forests, and served by four hospitals and an unrivaled healthcare system, regional developers, in cooperation with the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, are moving quickly toward developing an infrastructure especially attractive to retirees and the region's growing number of visitors.

Spearheaded by the Chamber, you'll see changes taking place that will increase local attraction. Expressways are being completed across the county - including the Coalfields Expressway, which will open a commercial corridor from southern Beckley to the mountains in the west, and the East Beckley Bypass, which will decrease congestion through eastern Raleigh County.

Other projects to watch for include the improvement of county-wide public transportation programs, the establishment of land management projects, and the further development of tourist and recreational attractions for locals and visitors alike.
